Balance Disorders

The physicians and staff of the St. Luke's Balance Center will provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis and treatment for patients with all types of balance disorders, such as:

• Imbalance and History of Falls
• Vertigo and Dizziness
  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
  • Cervicogenic dizziness
  • Inner ear infections
  • Exposure to ototoxins
  • Undiagnosed conditions
• Chronic Conditions
  • Polyneuropathy
  • Parkinson's Disease 
  • Stroke 
  • Multiple Sclerosis 
  • Acoustic Neuroma
  • Migraine 
• Status Post Concussion
  • Sports
  • Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA)
• Lower Extremity and Low Back Injuries
  • Functional limitations
  • S/P surgery or injury
  • Sports injury
• Aging/Deconditioning

Physical Therapy

Patients who are referred to the Balance Center initially will be evaluated by a specially trained physical therapist. This comprehensive examination may include:

• Gait and Balance Assessment
• Vestibular Assessment
• Balance Master Computerized Testing
• Range of Motion/Strength Assessment

Further Evaluation and Treatment

Upon completion of evaluation, the patient will often be referred to other appropriate Balance Center team members for further evaluation and treatment.
