Trauma Critical Care - PA-NP

Postgraduate Residency in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care for Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners

St. Luke's University Health Network is offering a 12-month postgraduate residency in trauma and surgical critical care. The fellowship offers a mix of didactic and clinical training. The didactic experience consists of:

  • Traditional lectures
  • Grand rounds
  • Critical care and trauma journals clubs
  • Attending physician rounds

Clinical rotations consist of twelve one-month rotations. The fellow will have five rotations in surgical critical care, five rotations on the trauma service, a one-month rotation on the trauma/general surgery service and a one-month rotation in an elective of their choice. Upon successful completion of the program PA/NP residents will receive a certificate of completion.

St. Luke's University Health Network is providing you with subspecialty training in the expert management of critically ill patients in the intensive care unit. PA/NP Fellows will become proficient in:

  • Evaluation of critically ill and injured patients
  • Initiation of appropriate and complete diagnostic and treatment plans
  • Development and implementation of patient care plans
  • Providing leadership

The trauma experience is unparalleled. The PA/NP Fellow will have full responsibility as a trauma team leader, gaining a broad range of experience in the management of blunt and penetrating trauma, along with emphasis on trauma team organization, resuscitation, diagnostics and therapeutics.

This multidisciplinary trauma and critical care training program is actively seeking individuals who have completed a board certified physician assistant or nurse practitioner program. St. Luke's provides fellows the opportunity to acquire extensive experience and work alongside a diverse and active faculty committed to education. Dedicated faculty deliver a comprehensive approach to patient care in a complex environment.
